My Three European ‘Signs’ (Miracles)

July 10, 2013

3816391053_77dc755abf_zLast week, I posted an article to this blog that shared the story of the greatest miracle I have witnessed to date.  If you have not yet read that article, please read that article by clicking HERE before you continue with today’s article.

In today’s article, I’d like to share the story of three smaller physical ‘signs’ (miracles) that occurred to me during my time in Europe.  In John’s gospel, he calls the miracles ‘signs’ because they operate as a ‘sign’ which points to something greater.

That ‘greater’ something is the love (Christ’s life) that I talked about in my last article.  This love was so profound, strong, and new for me, that I believe the Lord knew I would need supernatural ‘signs’ to show me that I was indeed touching a greater reality of Christ’s life than I have yet experienced.  I needed to know that I had not ‘lost my mind’, so to speak.  So without further ado, I’d like to share the three ‘signs’ that I experienced during my trip to Europe.

Sign #1- Peanuts

For my entire life, I have never been able to eat peanuts.  If I did, my nasal and throat passages would swell shut.  At times, the glands in my throat would swell so severely that I would not be able to breathe. It was no small matter.  In addition to that, I never liked the taste of peanuts as well.  On one particular night during my trip, I was spending the evening at the home of a brother and sister in the church body that was hosting me.  They served peanuts as an appetizer.  For the first time in over thirty years, I sensed the freedom to eat them.  The freedom I was sensing was unexplainable.  It was nothing I was trying to do, rather, it was naturally coming from my inner being.

As a result, I decided to naturally follow this new area of freedom and eat the peanuts.  Astoundingly, everything was fine.  I experienced no problems.  I have been eating them since that time with absolutely no issues.  Interesting.

Sign # 2- Motion Sickness

I get car sick.  Real bad.  Especially in the back seat.  It’s been this way as long as I can remember.  After being in Europe for several weeks, I found myself in the back seat of a fast moving car on a tremendously curvy road.  It was then that I noticed something incredible.  I was not projectile vomiting as I normally would be.  Not only was I not vomiting, I actually felt great.  No motion sickness at all for the first time in my life.  This ‘sign’ (miracle) continued for the rest of my trip.  Who knew His life could be good medicine for motion sickness?  Amazing.

Sign # 3- An Abscessed Tooth

After being in Europe for a few weeks, I developed an abscessed tooth.  The pain was becoming severe.  To make matters worse, I could tell that the infection was beginning to spread through my body and was making me sick.  I obtained an over-the-counter pain medication, but that quickly became ineffective as the pain and infection increased.  I started to get worried because I simply didn’t have the resources available to go to a dentist there.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.

Early one morning, the pain became so severe that it woke me up at five in the morning.  It was then that I decided to fully express my concern to the Lord about this situation.  I asked Him to show me if there was something He was trying to call my attention to.  After that, I went back to sleep for a few more hours.  When I woke again later that morning, I had this thought in the forefront of my mind:

“Go to YouTube and look for videos about possible natural remedies for an abscessed tooth.”

This is where things get interesting.  When I went to YouTube, the first video that popped up BEFORE I could type anything in the search box was a video entitled:  “How to cure a *TOOTHACHE* fast”.  Can you believe that?  What are the odds that this would be the first video that pops up on YouTube’s feed that morning?

As you might be able to imagine, this video got my attention.  As I watched the video, it became clear to me that the Lord wanted me to consider something quite profound.  The woman in the video described a natural remedy that she discovered which helped her with her toothache.  That was not what impacted me, however.  I did not utilize her natural remedy.  It was actually what she shared after she talked about her natural remedy that greatly impacted me.  In the video, this woman shared that she thinks she discovered the root of her toothache.  I was quite curious to hear what she had to say.

This woman discovered that the root of her tooth problem was a lack of trust.  Sounds crazy doesn’t it?  This woman went on to share that her toothache continued to return until her ‘trust’ issue was dealt with.  When she finally recognized the problem and experienced some relief in the area of trust, her toothache went away permanently!  Take a few minutes to watch this video.  After you watch this video, I’ll conclude by sharing my miracle with you:

As soon as I watched this video, I sensed the Father communicating with me.  Here is what I heard:

“You know, this is the root of your toothache as well.  You don’t trust me with these many situations that you fear.  You can trust me.  I really am good.”

It was then that my toothache and infection went away.  It has never returned.  Amazing, isn’t it?  I realized that a lack of ‘trust’ is really fear.  As the scriptures say, there is no fear in love (Christ).  His perfect love casts out all fear.  The Lord was / is revealing a greater measure of His love in me.  This love was uprooting that fear.  The healing of my toothache and infection was a tangible ‘sign’ of this love.  Love (Christ) truly is the best medicine.  All the ‘signs‘ seem to point to this.

  1. Wow, that is powerful. Thank you so much for sharing this.

  2. to trust is to rest ‘in’ Him, and to wait seems to equal rest and trust, in my life I’m learning just what trust, rest, and wait mean and where He is leading me in this area.

“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.”
    ~ Isaiah

  3. Amazing! God is sooooo much bigger and greater and loving and everything than I can even imagine right now – but I am seeing so much more of Him than what I did even 8 months ago. As “things” come up in my life, major and small things, I am finding Christ is MORE than sufficient to not just get me through, but to overcome. Thanks for sharing the Christ in you with the rest of us in Him!

Dear brother! I have dealt with this very thing for the past few weeks. A few weeks back, the Lord gave me a dream. It was vivid and clear, and basically was pack your things and go to Dallas. I had nothing to stop me, except all the fears I allowed into my life. The fear of leaving my boys, leaving my dad and the business, and finding a job all gripped me. But most of all I feared that I would make another huge mistake in my life, one thing I seem to be very good at. In the past month, after so many bad decisions, I have found I let my fear help me make my choices, not my trust in Him. The Lord gave me a second dream and He could not have made it clearer for me to put my trust in Him, completely. Our Father is awesome! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, brother. I’ll see you in two weeks! -Jeremy

Freedom freedom freedom, we need more and more as we grow in Jesus. Those are very personal testimony’s and there will be more and more. The older I get the more I realize that He can do the little things, needs, in our lives as well as the big ones. Thanks for sharing.

  6. YOWZA!! Thank you for sharing, sweet brother! My recent fight with canser was my training ground. i was floored to find out how much fear was in my life. Fear can be dressed so many different ways, to so many different people, for so many different reasons. But they all add up to not believing Him. Our Father, our Brother, our Comforter. Will we believe Him, will we trust Him with everything that we think we are & everything that we think we are not. Without trying to figure it all out, will we give Him our best & our worst and everything in between. How simply beautiful He is, how truly amazing. Thank you, Jamal for sharing your journey with us. You continually confirm how perfectly complete He is and i appreciate you so much.

  7. this is amazing, brother. the love of Christ is rich and free. thank you for sharing this Love. i struggle with all three of these things, except instead of peanuts it is tree nuts for me. yucky motion sickness. and i have also been dealing with tooth/mouth pain out of nowhere for the past few days. your story has challenged me in such a beautiful way and pointed me to Jesus. oh for grace to trust Him more!

    • Kelly,

I love how the Lord works. His love is incredible, and what a gift it truly is that He shares His love with us by giving His love to others to share with us. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon sister:)

  8. Rejoicing with you, Jamal. Not just one sign, but three…yay! Just like the Lord 🙂 You are touching on a really big subject, along with that other profound post you wrote on Jesus touching and healing the leper.. The power of Love to heal… it is a reality that we have a long ways to go in truly apprehending. But, there’s no time like the present to get started :-).

Much love Jamal. You are in my prayers.

  9. Jamal what great miracles! i love how Dad always pays attention to the details of our lives and never ceases to get excitement from showing His power to us!

I have a question for you. Do you believe The Lord gave you that tooth ache in order to show you that you were living in fear?

    • Jamal Jivanjee July 16, 2013 at 10:57 am

Thanks for your comment, and for your question. I would attempt to answer your question, but honestly, I am still distracted by the love that He has been revealing to me. My heart is leading my mind to focus on something else right now. As soon as I get over it, I will attempt to address your question. Blessings to you!

  10. Really awesome testimony’s Jamal! So encouraging!!

Plus a witness that you were indeed “a man on a mission”, serving the Lord and His people over in Europe.

  11. “Through mighty signs and wonders” the Love reveals Himself! Thanks for letting us share in what the Lord showed you bro…awesome.

  12. Jamal I think I read this last year when you posted it but so timely it came up again. I’ve been seeing so many movies lately about Europe (first when we watched P.S. I love You) ….then “Under the Tuscan sun” was on TV last week & then a friend had never seen “Eat Pray Love” & so we watched it again. Just thinking a lot about physical ailments & trust in my own life & how they are related. And the spontaneous healing that can come when we step out in trust & faith. It sounds good but honestly still feels scary. Just thinking about all of this, my desire to go to Europe & how everything is related & interconnected. Good to read this again! Very timely that you reposted it right now!
