Guarding Your Heart…For A Fortress or A Flood?

Dear sister,

You have heard it said, “Guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life”.  In your brokenness and fear, you have used this to build a treacherous fortress around your heart to keep me out.  I know you didn’t think it was me, but you simply didn’t look deep enough into their eyes.  Had you deepened and prolonged your gaze at your brothers and sisters, you would have seen me.  I am there.  When you closed your heart to them in your fear, you closed your heart to me.

My sister, there is a new age coming.  Haven’t you heard?  Indeed, it has already begun.  Yes this is an age of guarding your heart, but not in the way you have been taught.  You have heard it said that you should guard your heart to keep it closed, but I say to you that you should guard your heart to keep it open.   In this new age,  you must guard your heart for love.  Behold, an age of extravagant love is breaking in!

Love knows no separation.

Love knows no distance.

Love knows no walls.

Love knows no fear.

My love is violent.  My love will attack and tear down all your walls.  My love will not rest until your most fortified city is taken.  Yes, sister, you must truly guard your heart to keep it open.

For love.

For I am coming to take your city.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it”.  (Proverbs 4:23, NIV)

“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:38, NASB)

“So the people shouted, and priests blew the trumpets; and when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight ahead, and they took the city”.  (Joshua 6:20, NASB)

“From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force”.  (Matthew 11:12, NASB)

“But now faith, hope, love abide these three; but the GREATEST of these is love”.  (1 Cor. 13:13, NASB)

  1. we are ‘the woman’ at the well, our time has come to walk and live as intended…with open hearts

“A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers. God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality). [with hearts that are open, responsive, supple, or tender]

The woman said to Him, I know that Messiah is coming, He Who is called the Christ (the Anointed One); and when He arrives, He will tell us everything we need to know and make it clear to us. Jesus said to her,

I Who now speak with you am He.”

    John 4

  2. AMEN! Thanks for letting me hear Christ through your words, lovely brother! Im blessed to have this new perspective.

  3. Love it! It seems we are having to ‘re-think’ many things born of the flesh to see them in the Light of the Spirit. “Amor conquista todo”!

Thanks, Jamal. His perspective always, always shines light. I needed to hear this. As usual, perfect timing.

  5. Yes, God is doing new things! Holy Spirit came as fire upon me and through me on my black leather couch in my family room when I had given up on religion, church, and life. In the blackness of my wounded, broken heart, Holy Spirit poured a flame of Love and took me up to the Heavenly Throne. Then Jesus used a Tibetan Buddhist meditation and mandala class for my master’s program to appear to me behind closed eyes and said, “Come to Me, you who are tired and heavy with sorrows and burdened with many burdens and I will give you rest”

I felt a warm glow start in my belly and it started to increase and rise and when it got to my heart it felt like a explosion went off. It felt literally like chains breaking off and I cried and shook and when it was over, my heart was open! It has literally taken me 15 years to understand fully what happened and how it happened and all the things that have happened to me since. Thank you for your message today as it explained the “guard your heart” thing in a way I hadn’t thought of before!

I just had a fire in my kitchen, just a few minutes ago. I think it is because of the things I have been starting to understand, things I have begun to dare write in my blog. I don’t know. All I know is that the flame burst from my skillet and there was tremendous smoke and the smoke detectors did not go off. I tried to use the fire extinguisher under the sink but it would not work. The flames were intense so I cried out to God to help me and the flames went out. I opened my door and a fed ex man was coming to his truck and he asked if the fire department was on the way because he saw the smoke all the say up the hill. I told him that I called on God and he put the fire out. I was crying tears of wonder and awe at my God, our God, who can do all things if we rely on him. I just stood on my porch and praised God and talked to the fed ex man about the wonder and awe! Surely God is doing new things!

Now I came in and opened my email to find your blog and I am so grateful for all the new things that God is doing in and through his people; the revelation he is giving his beloveds! All Glory be to God!!! To God be the Glory now and for ever and ever Amen. http://www.newheavenonearth.wordpress.com

  6. This is such a needed and beautiful word for me . Thank you dear brother for sharing this .

  7. Wow, such a wonderful encouragement to open-up to the Lord’s love. Awesome Jamal!! I love this truth – “You have heard it said that you should guard your heart to keep it closed, but I say to you that you should guard your heart to keep it open.” So good!

Before Christ, we’re dwelling in the kingdom of fear, and so our fleshly walls are built in fear to try to protect ourselves from pain.

But in Christ, we’re learning to dwell in the kingdom of faith, and so our old walls and coping mechanisms are “becoming less” and Christ as our protection is “becoming more”. And He’s giving us the hunger and courage to open-up to Him and each other in a healthy & upright way, so that His flow of love can be a life-giving flood.

He’s so good to work in and through us to give us the spiritual instincts to open the castle-gate and receive all that He is flowing our way, and to enable us to be a powerful flow of love going out. But to also have the discernment to close the castle-gate and be fortified against the fiery darts of the enemy, deceptions & counterfeits of the world, carnal reasonings of man, manipulative controllers trying to heap-up followers unto themselves, etc.
