Transcend ‘authenticity’ for actualization.
Many of us have backgrounds where conformity to a certain appearance, behavior, or belief system was required for acceptance and approval. Over time, this can create a very strong appetite for authenticity in our desire to become liberated from the trauma that suppression and conformity causes to our humanity.
Authenticity can allow us to move into a state of self acceptance regarding what we are feeling and experiencing without judgement or fear of rejection.
While authenticity is very important in the healing process, many of us get stuck there thinking that to be authentic and ‘real’ with our struggle is the fullest essence of being human. This is false.
I’ve seen countless people stay stuck in chronic cycles of fear and anxiety and openly promote this condition of their lives as an example of being "real" and honest.
Over time, a person’s struggle can be used as a badge of honor that garners them sympathy and support from others who have felt similar shame in needing to conform to a toxic belief system or social construct.
While authentic folks can bring us a temporary sense of comfort by showing us that we are not alone in our struggle, it’s important to recognize that chronic struggle and suffering isn’t a badge of honor for those who seek true liberation.
Authenticity is only one step on the path toward liberation. For those who are here for true liberation, the goal isn’t to be ‘real’, it’s to be actualized.
An actualized person is one who has learned to take control of their body / mind so they can create a life that is in alignment with their divinely sourced desires.
Today, may we seek to go beyond authenticity and into actualization.
